Douglas Rodriguez
Acknowledged as the creator of Nuevo Latino
cuisine, Douglas Rodriguez has been hailed as, one
of the 100 Americans who will influence us in the new
millennium (Newsweek Magazine, January 2000).
The New York Times writes that, when he cooks,
a crowd gathers.
Chef Rodriguez is proud of his Latin heritage and passionate
about sharing his appreciation for its food. Born in New
York City to Cuban parents, he spent his teen years in
Miami. There, he socialized, studied and worked with expatriates
from every Latin American country, becoming familiar with
their traditions and cuisines. At the young age of 24,
Chef Rodriguez opened his first restaurant. Since then,
hes authored three cookbooks on Latin food, returned
to his birthplace (fortunately for us New Yorkers!) and
opened two sizzling Latin restaurants here in Manhattan,
Chicama and Pipa.
Yipeee is currently coordinating a variety of special events
with Chef Rodriguez through its Celebrity Chef Alliance. For
