Martha’s Yoga Workshop brings
you the liberating teachings of yoga in all its facets. Through
the practice of yoga our natural state of health and happiness is
released and strengthened. Students will experience an increase
in energy along with relief from physical discomfort. Increased
flexibility, muscle tone and body strength, accompanied by relief
from stress, align to produce optimal functioning of your body.
During the workshop Martha leads students through
a series of yoga postures, breathing exercises and flowing movements
that are appropriate for all ages. Here you will find an opportunity
to leave the stress, worries, aches and pains of your daily life
behind as you enrich yourself with yoga’s healing experience.
Martha’s workshop is suitable for both beginners and more
experienced students.
Yoga, meaning “union” in Sanskrit, was
designed to bring its practitioners health, happiness and enlightenment.
At the practical level, it incorporates physiological and mental
techniques concentrating on posture and alignment, stretching, breathing
and meditation.
There is extensive documentation that yoga postures
exercise the spine and stimulate the lymphatic system, helping to
release toxins from the body. These toxins, when allowed to accumulate,
result in pain and stiffness in muscles and joints. The physical
postures, breathing exercises and meditation practices of yoga have
been proven to reduce stress and lower blood pressure. Other long-range
health benefits include relief from the symptoms of hypertension,
asthma and arthritis, lowered cardiovascular risks and enhanced
pain management through awareness of breathing, which helps to achieve
calmer, slower respiration and aid in relaxation.
